Michael Dale Huckabee, most commonly known as Mike Huckabee is an American politician who served as the 44th governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007. He was a Republican candidate for the United States presidential nomination in both 2008 and 2016. He is the host of the Huckabee, talk show which ran on the Fox News Channel from 2008 to 2015. Currently, Mike runs on the Trinity Broadcasting News. In addition to a political career, Mike Huckabee is also the author of several books, a Baptist minister, a public speaker, and a musician.

Mike Huckabee was born and raised in Hope, Arkansas. He was born to Dorsey Wiles Huckabee and Mae Huckabee. His father was a firefighter and mechanic. And his mother worked at Louisiana Transit Company as a clerk. He has one sister, Pat Haris who works as a middle school teacher. Mike won the election as a student council vice president during his high school days at Hope High School in 1971. In 1972, he was elected as governor of Arkansas Boys State. He also became student council president during Hope High School in the year 1972 -73. He became a minister in Garrett Memorial Baptist Church in 1972.
Huckabee studied at Ouachita Baptist University majoring in religion. He was also enrolled in speech as a minor subject. He graduated on May 8, 1978. After he earned a Bachelor’s degree, Mike attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Mike Huckabee was hired by Evangelist James Robsion at the age of 21 to be his director of communications until he returned to Arkansas in 1980. He served as pastor at Immanuel Baptist Church in Arkansas from 1980 to 1986. He also served being a pastor at Beech Street First Baptist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas from 1986 to 1992. In 1989, Huckabee ran for presidency of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. He won the election and became the president of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. He served there from 1989 to 1991.
In 1992, Mike Huckabee ran for the Republican candidate against Democrat Dale Bumpers, the incumbent senator. But Huckabee was defeated in the general election receiving only forty percent votes. On November 20, 1933. Huckabee ran for a special election for lieutenant governor and won the election. Again in 1994, he won re-election with fifty eight percent of vote and was elected to a full four-year term.
In 1996, Mike Huckabee decided to pursue the Senate seat which was left by Democratic David Pryor. He then began to lead in pools. At that time, Governor Jim Guy Tucker was convicted of felony fraud charges. Tucker promised to resign by July 15. Then, Huckabee announced he would quit the Senate race and fill the unexpired term of Tucker. Huckabee was then given the position of Governor of Arkansas after the resignation of Tucker.
Huckabee was elected to a full four-year term in November 1998. In November 2002, he was re-elected to the second four-year term by defeating Jimmie Lou Fisher, a State Treasurer. In 2005, Governing magazine honored Huckabee as one of its 2005 Public Officials of the Year.
Huckabee has announced his intention to run for president in 2007. He also filed a statement of candidacy on January 29, 2007. He also won several primary elections. But in March 4, 2008, he was dropped out of the presidential race after John McCain, U.S. senator scored enough delegates to win the Republican nomination. Huckabee was given his first weekend talk show, Huckabee on Fox News which debuted on September 27, 2008. On November 13, 2008, ABC Radio Networks had announced that Huckabee had signed to deal with a radio show named, The Huckabee Report. He debuted that show on January 5, 2009. In August 2009, Mike Huckabee travelled to Israel and made controversial statements in support of settlements in support of settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Huckabee moved to Florida in 2010. He began talk-radio show, The Mike Huckabee Show produced by Curtis Media in April 2012. He debuted this show with Mitt Romney as the first guest. But the show ended in 2013 after Huckabee had a contract dispute. On January 3, 2015, Huckabee announced the end of his weekend program on Fox News. He published the book God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy in the same month.
On May 5,2015, Mike Huckabee announced that he was running for president again. In February, 2016 after finishing ninth campaign in Iowa caucuses, Huckabee suspended his presidential campaign. Mike Huckabee announced to resume working for Fox News as a contributor and analyst in April 2016. In March 1, 2018 Huckabee resigned from the Country Music Association Foundation, less than a day after his appointment after critisim over his anti-gay rights record.
In March 2019, President Donald Trump appointed Huckabee to the board of the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington DC for the Performing Arts. In July 2020, Learn Our History, Huckabee’s company co-founded in 2011 promoted “no-risk” deal giving education booklets such as “The Kids Guide to President Trump” for free or $1 per item.
