Matt Bevin Family, Early Life
Matt Bevin was born to Avery Bevin and Louise Bevin in Denver, Colorado. He is the second of six children. His father worked at a wood mill and his mother worked in a hospital admissions department. He grew up in the small and rural town of Shelburne, New Hampshire. At the age of six, he used to make money by packaging and selling seeds to neighbors to support his family. He developed his public speaking and leadership skills while serving as a member of the state teen council. He also got involved in the country’s Dairy Club.

Matt Bevin first attended a small Christian School. Later, he attended Gould Academy, a private high school in tenth grade. He used to perform various summer jobs and on-campus dishwashing jobs to support his school expenses. After graduating from high school, he attended Washington and Lee University on a partial scholarship. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1989 from East Asian Studies in Japan. He joined the USA army as a lieutenant after returning to Turkey.

Matt Bevin completed a six-week course, the Junior Maintenance Course in 1990 in Kentucky. He was placed in the 25th Field Artillery Regiment in Fort Polk in Louisiana. He was promoted to the rank of captain from a second lieutenant, earning medals of honor. He left his duty in the American Army in 1993.
Then, Matt Bevin began to serve as a finance consultant for SEI Investment Companies in Pennsylvania and Boston. He also became the vice president of Putnam investments. After achieving enough experience in investment and finance, Matt moved to Kentucky in 1999. He started his two investment companies named Integrity Asset Management and Veracity Funds in Kentucky. In 2008, Bevin Brothers Manufacturing Company, American Bell company heavy losses. However, Matt Bevin took complete control and became the President of Bevin Brothers. But, a lightning strike sparked a fire that destroyed his factory and most of his goods were looted. Despite heavy losses, Bevin swore to rebuild the company started by his ancestors. He received a hundred thousand dollars to rebuild his business in 2012 from Senator Richard Blumenthal.
In 2013, Matt Bevin announced that he would challenge Mc. Connell, Senate Minority Leader in the 2014 U.S. Senate primary election. He received huge support from several groups. However, MC. Connell won his seat for the sixth term, defeating Matt Bevin. In 2015 Matt Bevin registered for the governor election of Kentucky. He won the primary election defeating James Comer by 0.03% vote. Matt Bevin won the general election on November 3, 2015, defeating democratic candidate Jack Conway with 8.71 percent votes.
Matt Bevin chose Hal Heiner as Secretary of Education and Workforce Cabinet along with Derrick Ramsey as Secretary of Labor. He joined a group of 25 U.S. governors refusing Syrian refugees on account of terror attacks which took place in Paris.

Matt Bevin first met his wife, Glenna on a blind date. Glenna was a divorced single mother. Bevin and Glenna married in 1996. The couples had five additional children. In 2003, their eldest daughter Brittney died in a car accident at the age of seventeen near the family’s home. In memory of their daughter, the couples established a non-profit organization that funds domestic and international mission trips for high school students. Bevin and Glenna later adopted four children between the ages of 2 and 10. Currently, Bevin and his whole family reside in the Governor’s mansion in Kentucky.
