Jonathan Tate Reeves commonly named Tate Reeves is an American politician and a member of the Republican Party. Tate is currently serving as the 65th Governor of Mississippi. His tenure started on January 14, 2020, and will end on January 9, 2024. In the general election held on November 5, 2019, he won for the Governor of Mississippi defeating Jim Hood from the Democratic. Earlier from 2012 to 2020, he served as 32nd lieutenant governor of Mississippi. In 2003, he was appointed the first and the youngest Republican treasurer in state history.
Tate Reeves Early Life And Education
Tate Reeves was born on July 4, 1974, in Florence, Mississippi, U.S. His parents raised him in Rankin County, Mississippi. There is not much information about his parents. Reeves attended Florence High School in 1992. He graduated from Millsaps College in Jackson with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Tate currently serves as a member of the investment policy and the advisory Committee for the General Louis Wilson Fund and Else School of Management Board in Millsaps.

After graduating from Millsaps, Tate Reeves studied and pursued his career in finance in Jackson. He became an investment officer for Trustmark National Bank in Jackson in 2000. In 2006 Reeves was elected as the president of the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) for a year. Currently, he is a chartered financial analyst and a member of the CFA Society of Mississippi and the CFA Institute.

Mississippi state treasurer (2004–2012)
Tate Reeves was elected to his first term of state treasurer in 2003. In the general election, he defeated his opponent Gary Anderson from democratic with 41% of lead. Reeves was Mississippi’s first and youngest Republican state treasurer. In 2007, he was re-elected for the position with 61% of the vote.
The lieutenant governor of Mississippi(2012–2020)
In 2011 Tate Reeves was elected as the lieutenant governor of Mississippi defeating Hewes. He succeeded with the then governor of Mississippi Phil Bryant. In November 2015, Reeves was re-elected for the post defeating three opponents.

In the 2019 election, Tate Reeves ran for Governor of Mississippi. He won the election defeating Bill Waller Jr and other opponents. Reeves joined the office on January 14, 2020. His term is supposed to end on January 9, 2024.
