Talking about his education and training, Carlyle was involved in drama at the Glasgow Arts Center at the age of 21. His career starts with lots of hardship and struggles. In 1994 he played father Greg’s gay lover in the movie Priest. Carlyle’s first prominent role came as the murderer Albert “Albie” Kinsella in an October 1994 episode of Cracker, alongside Robbie Coltrane and Christopher Eccleston who notoriously killed Eccleston’s character, DCI David Bilborough.
