Sarah Bloom Raskin is an American lawyer, politician and financial regulator. She was a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the former United States Deputy Secretary of the Treasury. Before this service, she worked as a Maryland Commissioner of Financial Regulation and as a Managing Director at the Promontory Financial Group. She is also recommended for the future Secretary of the Treasury in 2019. As of now, Sarah is a Rubenstein Fellow at Duke University.

Sarah Bloom Raskin was born on April 15, 1961, in Medford, Massachusetts. She belongs to a Jewish family. Sarah was raised by father, Herbert Bloom and mother, Arlene.
She completed her high school in 1979 from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor, Illinois. Later, In 1983 she did her bachelors of art in economics from Amherst College. In the earliest phase, Sarah Bloom Raskin was a Managing Director at the Promontory Financial Group. Later on, she worked as a commissioner in the U.S. Senate Banking Committee and at Arnold & Porter as an associate. Raskin also worked at Maryland as a financial regulator.
During the Obama administration, Sarah was nominated to the Federal Reserve Board by then-president. She was nominated with Dr Janet Yellen and professor Peter A. Diamond. On September 30, 2010, she was confirmed as Federal Reserve Board governors by the United States Senate without any opposition. In her tenure, she focused on issues like consumer protection and income inequality which made her a popular member of the Federal Reserve Board.
For the second-in-command position of Deputy Secretary at the United States Department of the Treasury, Raskin was again nominated by Obama on July 31, 2013. Sarah was confirmed as Deputy Secretary on March 12, 2014, and took office on March 19, 2014. She resigned her membership of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System on March 13, 2014. Currently, she is a Rubenstein Fellow at Duke University. In 2020, the Biden administration Raskin was named a candidate for Secretary of the Treasury.
