James Paul Lankford is an American popular politician. He has also served as a junior senator of the United States from Oklahoma. As a member of the Republican Party, he was the US Representative for Oklahoma from 2011 to 2015.

James Lankford Childhood and Family
James Lankford was born on March 4, 1968, in Texas, US. His parents are Linda Joyce and James Wesley Lankford. His mother was a librarian in elementary school. His maternal grandparents maintained a small dry-cleaning business, and his father and paternal grandparents managed a dairy farm. His stepfather was a career employee at AC Delco, the parts division of General Motors.

Lankford joined Lakeview Centennial High School in Garland. There he participated in the Close Up Washington Civics program. He earned a BA in secondary education (majoring in language arts and history) from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990. He also earned an MA in Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1994. He was a substitute teacher and assistant to the language team at Pflugerville High School in 1991.

Talking about his career, After graduating with his degree, Lankford moved to Edmond, a suburb of Oklahoma City, where he still lives. He served in the Oklahoma Baptist General Convention. From 1996 to 2005 he was Program Director for Falls Creek, the largest Christian camp in the United States.
Lankford smashed out at the decision, saying “marriage is a state matter and Oklahoma is speaking out.” It also backed the Defense of Marriage Law and condemned the 2013 Supreme Court ruling that struck down parts of the law.
Lankford has spoken out largely against laws promoting LGBT rights. It is against same-sex marriage. In the early days of his 2010 campaign for the House of Representatives, Lankford flouted Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, which added higher penalties to hate crime legislation for crimes motivated by the sexual orientation or race of the victim.
In 2017, Lankford became one of six senators to endorse the Secure Elections Act, a bill that approved block grants for states to update outdated election technology, as well as a program for an independent panel of experts to work on developing cybersecurity guidelines.

In January 2014, Lankford announced that he would run in the 2014 Senate election to remove Republican Senator Tom Coburn. Lankford won the Republican primary in June 2014 and defeated former Speaker of the House of Representatives T.W. Shannon and former Senator Randy Brogdon. In November, Lankford won the election for the final two years of Coburn’s second term, defeating retired Senator Constance N. Johnson. Independent candidate Mark Beard received 25,965 votes i.e 3.2% of the total.
Lankford was elected to a full six-year term in Oklahoma’s 2016 United States Senate election Senate, defeating Democratic aide Mike Workman with 67.7 percent of the vote. As in 2014, it won every county in the state by overwhelming.
