Tahar Rahim is an Algerian origin French actor. He is best known for his role as Malik El Djebena in Jacques Audiard’s award-winning French film A Prophet 2009.

Rahim was born in Belfort, France, to an Algerian family who had immigrated from the Oran area. He was born on 4th July, 1981. He is 39 years old. His birth sign is Cancer. Rahim landed a role in the hit Canal+ television series La Commune, written by Abdel Raouf Dafri, in mid-2006 after signing with an agent. He went through a grueling three months of auditioning after a two-line role in the 2008 horror film Inside, starring Béatrice Dalle.
He landed his breakout position after eight callbacks. Rahim also appeared in the controversial Chinese film Love and Bruises, directed by Lou Ye. The producer, who has been barred from making films by the Chinese government twice, most likely met Tahar at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, where they both presented Spring Fever and A Prophet. The film Love and Bruises is based on Jie Liu Falin’s banned biography.
Des Hommes Libres (Free Men), a biopic about Si Kaddour Benghabrit, the founder of the Great Mosque of Paris, directed by Ismael Ferroukhi of Le Grand Voyage fame, was another project in which he starred.
He was chosen to serve on the jury for the Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard section in 2015. He is currently starring in a European crime thriller television series, The Last Panthers.
In 2018, he played Judas in Helen Edmundson’s film Mary Magdalene, in which he played Judas. In the United States, he played FBI agent Ali Soufan in the film The Looming Tower. He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 2021 for his role in The Mauritanian as Mohamedou Ould Salahi.
