Vanessa Bryant ripped actress Evan Rachel Wood on Saturday to call her late husband Kobe Bryant a “rapist” shortly after he died in a helicopter crash last year. Vanessa Bryant told her followers it wasn’t until recently that she became aware of Wood’s “rapist” tweet. Also, to a West world actress, she sent a strongly worded message telling her how dangerous these types of accusations could be.
On the Instagram Story, Vanessa Bryant posted that, “Your false, insensitive, defamatory and slanderous tweet on 1/26/20 is evil and disturbing, to say the least. She said, “Behavior like this the reason why black men who are innocent go to jail for crimes they have not committed. The charge does not make someone guilty.” She said Wood’s tweet “just came to my attention” and added, “You don’t know the facts of the case.”
Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others died in the helicopter crash near Calabasas, California on January 26, 2020. They were going to a basketball tournament. After, 3 days Wood tweeted, “So far, I haven’t said anything about Kobe because I felt I had to spend some time before weighing in. But surely, it’s time for the sledgehammer to come out. The man was a rapist. Deal with that.”
Kobe Bryant was charged with raping a hotel worker in Colorado in July 2003. He spent most of the 2003-2004 NBA season traveling back and forth between Los Angeles and Eagle, Colorado for court hearings on his charge with sexual assault. When his accuser decided not to give evidence, the charges against Bryant were later dropped. In 2005, Bryant later settled a civil case outside the court.
Wood has spoken about being a survivor of rape and domestic violence. She accused her former finance Marilyn Manson of abusing her horrifically for years. Manson denied all her accusations saying they were horrible distortions of reality.
