Wanda Vázquez is an attorney and politician of Puerto Rico. Shae has been the Governor of Puerto Rico since 7 August 2019. From the year 2017 to 2019, she has been working as the Secretary of Justice. Wanda is a member of the Republican Party and the New Progressive Party of Puerto Rico. She has been the second governor of Puerto Rico.

At an early age, Vázquez became interested in law. She came to realize to follow a career along that time when she used to watch TV shows with her father, like Hawaii Five-O. Wanda worked for the Department of Public Housing. She has been working as a district attorney in the Department of Justice for over 20 years during the 1980s. In the year 2010, Vázquez was appointed as the head of the island’s Office for Women’s Rights.
In 2016, she was appointed Secretary of Justice by Governor Ricardo Rossello. Vázquez was initially expected to replace him when Rossello announced his resignation on 24 July 2019 amid massive protests against his government. She has no interest to become the governor and she was determined that if only required by the constitution, she would work.
Pierluisi was removed from office by the Supreme Court due to problems with his legitimacy as secretary of State. Garced was ultimately forced to take office. On January 18, 2017, she was confirmed and sworn in the position. Vázquez began her political career as a lawyer for the Housing Department in 1980. Then, she became a district lawyer in the Puerto Rico department of justice. She has specialized in cases and deals with domestic and sexual abuse for over two decades. In 2010, Rossello appointed Vázquez as the head of the Office of Women’s Rights. But during her seven years in the position, numerous women’s advocacy groups have criticized her for doing the poor.
Wanda left the position of head of the department early to start her new role as Secretary of Justice in 2017. Vázquez chose not to investigate the leaked texts, and instead called for protesters to be “good and calm.”

In 2018, in reaction to ethical complaints filed by the office of an independent special prosecutor, she temporarily stepped down.
